Supper Club 004 was hosted at Alchemist Society in collaboration with Modest, Iovine Brothers Produce and myself. During my childhood, growing up in the restaurant industry, we would go to restaurants and bars for holidays. A spot close to our heart was Joseph Poon in Chinatown. Joe would make me beautiful fruit sculptures, transforming mellon into dragons and oranges into plump birds. Recounting that memory I went around to Chinatown taking polaroid photos of the store fronts and details of the neighborhood. Using fruit boxes from Reading Terminal Market as my material, I made collaged frames for the polaroids taken. Next to the Installation was a hand written letter projected on the wall speaking to growing up around markets, vendors, and groceries. In Philadelphia, Reading terminal and Chinatown have a symbiotic relationship being only seconds apart from each other.
